Valley View Farm has a rustic red barn that sits on the perfect picturesque location for your wedding! Check on the pictures and such that we have posted thus far.
Valley View Farm invites you to experience the rich heritage of this 900 acre farm. The farm was purchased by David Tuckwiller in 1826 with the seventh generation of his family still living on the farm. Valley View Farm has been a stage coach stop and tavern, site of Civil War skirmish, farm with prize winning Shorthorn cattle, champion Draft horses, and delicious Wilson Turkeys. The Red Barn Event center was built in 1950 in the Bank Barn style to house livestock, square hay bales and farm equipment. The Barn was converted from Farm use in 2005 for a community party. Family weddings and Events created the demand to begin Valley View Farm wedding rentals. Community Non Profit fund raisers have showcased this unique setting for event rentals. The farm is situated in the Richlands area named for the fertile farming land.
Early Days at Valley View Farm
Valley View Farm was home to Wilson Turkey Farm from 1941 to 1991. Harvey and Edith Wilson started the turkey business as a separate, but integral part of Valley View Farm, which was known for its Shorthorn cattle. In fact, they traded a Shorthorn heifer for their first turkeys. Until 1970, they both ran the operation and after Harve’s death in 1970, Edith continued at the helm of the bustling enterprise that produced “the best turkeys in West Virginia.” Genevieve Wilson Friedman, their oldest daughter, helped Edith from 1987 until 1991. The story will be told through pictures, newspaper and magazine articles, an essay and more. Click HERE for more information and pictures from our family.
